14th Agriculture Leadership Conclave 2023
Agriculture in India continues to be a powerful engine for livelihood security, economic growth and social transformation. India in the recent years has witnessed a transformational change in agriculture, catalysed by the agri start-ups, digitization, industries, institutions, and impactful government policies. The need of the hour is the renewed focus and a boost in farm services, technology, trade and global partnerships in food and agriculture to help unleash the potential of Indian agriculture and create more jobs and entrepreneurships, and thus strengthen the Indian economy.
Today our agricultural production and exports are stronger than ever. We are counted among the biggest and stable food producers in the world. So also are we the most populous country in the world. This puts us in an important and difficult position to maintain our food security without compromising the dwindling resources, Therefore, there is an immediate need to reimagine our food systems through sustainable agriculture practices. To transform the current exploitative nature of agriculture, there is an urgent need for deliberations and collaborations. If all the key stakeholders work in tandem, the sector could undoubtedly leapfrog into a new regime of growth and enhanced farmer welfare with sustainable agriculture principles.
The 14th Agriculture Leadership Conclave 2023 & Awards to be held on 20-21 December, 2023 at New Delhi aims to bring all key functionaries of Indian and global agriculture system on one platform to deliberate upon key issues and agenda, and prepare a roadmap to sustainability and food security. The event will be combined with the silver jubilee celebration of Agriculture Today Group, presentation of the 14th Agriculture Leadership Awards and the release of special issue of Agriculture Today magazine. Important individuals and institutions, who have played seminal roles to build new hopes and aspirations in agriculture, will be recognised at the Leadership Awards. The combined event makes it a must for one and all in agriculture, food, agribusiness, research, academics, media, farming, trade, development, policy making, implementation and all those concerned with food, farmers and the rural sector to participate in this annual event.
OBJECTIVES
- To discuss the broad issues in agriculture, food and nutrition, the scope and opportunities for India to achieve sustained growth through policy push and public-private partnerships
- To discuss the national and global food and nutrition security challenges, the issue of access, equity and employment and the concerns on account of services, trade and technology
- To discuss the challenge of climate change, and its potential long-term impact on food and nutrition security situation; and to deliberate upon mitigation strategies for climate resilient agriculture
- To discuss various governmental policies, programs and interventions and the role of the states, industries and institutions in taking Indian food and agriculture to global markets
- To discuss the challenges in agriculture and food logistics infrastructure, processing, services, value chain and supply chain management for sustained growth and profitability in agriculture

Silver Jubilee Special Issue of AT
Commemorating our 25th year celebration, a special issue compiling the seminal articles in the last twenty five years will be compiled and released as a special edition. The silver jubilee special issue will be a collector’s edition and will also be a anthology of articles that portray the growth of agriculture in the past 25 years.
Leadership Awards 2023
Agriculture in India has come a long way since green revolution. There is a sort of revolution taking place in agriculture sector, driven by the hard work of farmers, progressive government policies, aggressive play by the agency and institutions and the role of large corporates and the entry of startups and new form of farm institutions. The role of these stake-holders in driving the growth and value-added transformation of India’s farm sector is commendable and needs to be recognised and felicitated. Responding to the needs at the national level to recognise the contributions of various stake-holders in agriculture, the magazine took a step forward to reward and motivate individuals and organisations for playing their leadership roles in agriculture. The institution of Agriculture Leadership Awards in 2008 was the first step in this direction.
The Awards are presented annually in different categories to individuals and organisations, who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields. The National Awards Committee is headed by Justice P. Sathasivam, former Chief Justice of India and Governor of Kerala, with a dozen persons of national eminence as its members. The selection of awardees is done through a two-tier system. The awards sub-committees will be headed by a member of the national committee. All the applications and nominations received by the Awards Secretariat will be put up to the respective sub-committees, which will in turn recommend names to the National Committee for the final selection. The planet is witnessing rapid change in climate in recent years. There are extremes of rains and temperature and change in weather and seasons. As a result, global food security is facing big challenge. Named after the great Indian scientist, Prof. MS Swaminathan, who played pioneering role in saving India from food starvation during late sixties through Green Revolution, this annual session will bring the global experts to deliberate upon the climate change and food security challenge, and draw up a road map to help the Governments, especially in developing and under developed countries to make policies and programs to deal with the challenge and ensure sustainable food and nutrition security.
MS Swaminathan Global Leadership Award for Sustainable Development

Named after the great Indian scientist, Prof. MS Swaminathan, who played pioneering role in saving India from food starvation during late sixties through Green Revolution, which resulted into quantum jump in production, this single award @ INR two million will be annually presented to an outstanding leader, who made globally impacting contribution to the food security and sustainable agriculture development through the work in research, academics, technology, policy, industry or development sectors.
